Know that this isn’t your fault. Often, what people call “bullying” is a conflict between two individuals. But if anyone is mean to you constantly, it’s bullying, so you don’t have to blame yourself. No one deserves to be treated cruelly.
Don’t respond or retaliate. Maybe the response is precisely what the aggressors are hoping for, because they believe it gives them control over you, so you don’t want to motivate the aggressor. As for retaliating, going back to a murderer transforms you into one – so you can turn a mean act into a chain reaction. If you may, please remove yourself from the situation. If you can’t, humor disarms or distracts a person from abuse.
Save the evidence. The only good thing about online or phone abuse is that it can typically be reported, saved, and revealed to anyone who can help. In case things escalate, you can save the proof.
Tell the person to stop. This is entirely up to you – don’t do it if you don’t feel absolutely confident doing it, but you need to make your position perfectly clear that you can no longer stand up for this treatment. You might need to practice with someone you trust beforehand, like a parent or a good friend.
Reach out for help– Especially if you’re really getting the actions. You deserve your backup. Ask if there’s someone who can listen, help you understand what’s going on and work through it – a friend, a parent, or an adult you trust.
I hope that all of those solutions will help you if you ever need it.
